Wine compatibility

This page is based on experiences I (javascript1) had. Whether Wine works may depend on the Linux distribution, Wine version, or perhaps even the hardware.
On top of that, certain aspects of the game (like automatically moving the mouse, message box spamming, or other scary effects) that depend on scripting languages like Batch or VBScript may not work.

Wine compatibility has been, for the most part, OK during the development of the original Catto Boi series. It was while the remakes were being developed that Wine compatibility was thrown away. Around mid-2023, mango-ki modified the games to detect Wine. If the game detected that it was running in Wine, it would throw an error message stating that Wine was not supported. The game would exit after pressing OK, preventing gameplay.
